Santa Clarita Multiple Listing Service and having your personal info hijacked

When you are considering relocation from one city to another, it can create issues when the homes for sale you are finding on-line are not really for sale.

You may be wondering how this can happen?  It has to do with the Source of the Data you are viewing.  It also has to do with the purpose of the Data being published and who it was built to serve.  It may be that you are looking at a website that shows real estate for sale for the purpose of having real estate agents join to buy leads(thereby monetizing the syndication website).  To have a real estate Searcher’s(your) personal information sent to that agent for a cost.

If the website is savvy enough, it will also include information about how you were searching with their system.  You may have been looking for three bedroom homes in Saugus CA with private pools.  Maybe after you were done searching for the “for sale” real estate, you clicked on the “school information tab”.  Then, you may have went on to look at some demo-graphical information about Valencia CA – then repeated your home search – but this time without pools…

You have just had your on-line habits, tracked, recorded and sold!  All with just the innocent searching for real estate on-line.  It’s kind of like this, when you are searching on-line for real estate, there are two factions – one wanting to sell your personal information to real estate agents. The other wants to sell you a home.

Which would you rather use to search with?  The local real estate agents in the Santa Clarita Valley are mostly members of an agreement with the Boards of Realtors – their Brokers and the Internet Data Exchange, IDX.  If they spam you, you can go to their office and drag them behind the tool shed :)  Be Safe and we will talk with you soon!
